Location
We are located on
the Big Island of Hawaii. On the flanks of Kilauea, the worlds most active
volcano, “Bellyacres” sits a mile inland overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Access is very easy on scenic paved rural roads about 38 miles from Hilo airport and
town. Our nearest shops for food, laundry, banking, etc. are
in the village of Pahoa about 14 miles away.
The walk to the
ocean is about 10-15 minutes while the nearest beach is about 25 minutes
(or three minutes if you drive). Kehena is a clothing optional black
sand beach regularly visited by spinning dolphins, appreciative locals and
only a few tourists.
Nearby, along our 15
miles of pristine coastal roads are warms ponds, tidal pools and a
volcanically formed fresh water lake that are best visited on one of our
cruiser bicycles.
We are 45 miles from
Volcano National Park which is the best place in the world for viewing
volcanic activity, past and present. Kona Town and airport on Hawaii’s
west coast is a picturesque three-hour drive away.
